TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER 3+4 EVENT TURNS COMPLEX LA INTO A SKATER'S PARADISE

On July 8th, fans lined up early outside Complex LA on Fairfax for a full-day celebration of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, the highly anticipated revival of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., the venue was packed wall to wall with players, collectors, and longtime fans eager to get their hands on the next chapter in skateboarding video games.

Inside, the space was transformed into a skater’s dream. The room felt like it was ripped straight out of a downtown skate spot, feeling industrial and unpolished in the best way. Chain-link fences and weathered traffic signs framed the space, while couches created a lived-in, vibe and old-school VHS TVs lined the walls playing game footage, giving the event a nostalgic, throwback feel. A huge projector displayed the day’s highest in-game scores, fueling a steady buzz of competitive energy. Every inch screamed “underground cool”,  not curated, but claimed.

One of the day’s major highlights was the appearance of pro skater Bam Margera, who’s also a playable character in the game. He spent some time signing autographs and posing for photos, drawing huge attention from fans who grew up with both his skating and the early Tony Hawk games. Many attendees even brought their original copies of past Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater titles, worn game cases in hand, for him to sign, turning the moment into a full-circle experience.

The event wasn’t just about meet-and-greets. Attendees were invited to demo Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 across dozens of screens, trying out its upgraded mechanics, expanded roster, and fast-paced arcade-style gameplay. Players could enter a timed challenge for a chance to win a Tony Hawk Collector’s Edition prize pack, including a branded skateboard and a deluxe copy of the game.

Adding to the interactive vibe, a customization station let guests build their own fingerboards, complete with vibrant trucks and wheels, which they could test out on a miniature skate park set up right in the middle of the space.

Throughout the day, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. The crowd, a mix of veteran fans and new-gen skaters, moved through the stations, stopping to admire the attention to detail, share gameplay strategies, and relive memories from the series’ earlier days on the PS2.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 keeps the series’ beloved third-person, combo-heavy formula while layering in mechanics from every installment up to Tony Hawk’s Underground. The game includes returning legends like Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, and Bucky Lasek, while adding newer pros such as Rayssa Leal, Margielyn Didal, Yuto Horigome — and of course, Bam Margera.

The event served as a high-energy preview of what fans can expect when the game launches and a celebration of both the legacy and evolution of a franchise that helped define a generation.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 officially drops on July 11, 2025 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
