OCTOBER ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: 2HOLLIS

For most artists, genre is a boundary. For 2hollis, it’s a playground. The 21-year-old producer, vocalist, and sonic shapeshifter has built a world where EDM crashes into trap, ambient pop dissolves into rage rap, and Minecraft fireworks explode in the background — literally. His songs feel both digital and deeply human, pulsing with a tension between distance and closeness, chaos and control. To hear 2hollis is to step into a space where the internet’s distortion meets raw emotion and somehow, it all feels alive. 

Born Hollis Parker Frazier-Herndon in Altadena, California, and raised in Chicago, 2hollis’s musical DNA runs deep. His father is the drummer for the experimental rock band Tortoise, and his mother is the found of Bix 3, the influential PR firm and cofounder of Owsla, Skrillex’s label. Growing up surrounded by both underground innovation and industry infrastructure gave Hollis a front-row seat to creativity in motion. But rather than following one clear path, he built his own, one that looks and sounds nothing like what came before. 

Before 2hollis became a name buzzing through online fandoms and festival circuits, he went by Drippysoup, a teenage alias he used to upload early tracks to SoundCloud. The songs, often described as “medieval rap”, combined warped synths with eerie, cinematic melodies. They didn’t just hint at a new subgenre; they built one. What started as underground experimentation evolved into what fans now call “chain mail”, a term that captures both the metallic texture of his sound and the digital armor of his aesthetic. 

The breakthrough came in 2022 with his album White Tiger, an experimental statement piece that blurred the lines between ambient electronica and modern rap. Critics began taking notice, and fans gravitated toward his world of shimmering chaos. By 2023, his single “Poster Boy” landed on the EA Sports FC 24 soundtrack, introducing his sound to millions of new listeners. A year later, his singles “crush” and “jeans” cemented his place as one of the most promising new artists pushing music past traditional genre boundaries. 

That same year, 2hollis joined Ken Carson’s Chaos Tour as the opening act, a pivotal moment that brought his futuristic energy from the internet to the stage. What followed was a headlining run of his own, Leg One, where his live shows became known for their intensity. On stage, he commands chaos, lights flickering, beats crashing, fans shouting every glitchy word. It’s immersive, overwhelming, and impossible to forget. 

What makes 2hollis truly stand out isn’t just the genre-bending or the viral moments, it’s his restless evolution. He’s not content to settle into one lane, because his art thrives on motion. His recent signing to Interscope Records marks not a destination, but a launchpad. With each release, he redefines what pop, rap, or electronic music can sound like when filtered through a hyperconnected, emotionally charged generation. 

His tracks shimmer like pixels and crash like memories, balancing technology’s cold precision with raw vulnerability. Whether sampling unexpected sounds or blurring genres until they dissolve, he’s redefining what it means to be an artist in the post-genre era. 

2hollis isn't just bending the rules, but writing new ones in real time. If his trajectory so far is any indication, the chaos he creates might just be the future of music itself.
