On September 18, Jordan Davis lit up the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles as part of his Ain’t Enough Road Tour, delivering a night filled with crowd-pleasing hits, heartfelt moments, and glimpses of his evolving artistry. The tour supports his latest album, Learn the Hard Way, and the show highlighted not only Davis’s growth as a songwriter but also his deep connection with fans.
The Greek Theatre, nestled in Griffith Park, is one of L.A.’s most iconic venues. Known for its intimacy despite its size, the open-air amphitheater paired perfectly with Davis’s sound. His voice carried with clarity through the night air, balancing the polished feel of a major tour with the relaxed, outdoorsy energy of a country tailgate.
Before Davis took the stage, the audience was treated to a trio of openers that showcased the depth of rising talent in country music. Mackenzie Carpenter, a Hull, Georgia native who has written for artists like Lily Rose and Megan Moroney, opened the evening with a bright, engaging set. Next was Vincent Mason, also from Georgia, whose warm vocals and reflective lyrics won over the crowd. Rounding out the openers was Mitchell Tenpenny, the Nashville-born hitmaker whose gritty delivery and emotional lyricism had the audience hanging on every word.

Davis’s own journey to the spotlight began in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he grew up surrounded by music. After earning a degree in environmental science, he followed his instincts to Nashville, determined to carve out his place in the country scene. That leap of faith paid off when his 2017 debut single, “Singles You Up,” soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, setting the stage for a career built on thoughtful lyrics and relatable storytelling.
When the lights dimmed and Davis finally walked onstage with his guitar, he was greeted with thunderous cheers that echoed across the Greek Theatre. He opened with “Ain’t Enough Road,” the track that gives his tour its name, framed by the backdrop of a projected road stretching into the horizon, setting the tone for a journey through his music and life. From there, he seamlessly blended new material from Learn the Hard Way with longtime fan favorites, often stepping onto the extended stage to reach out to fans and share a smile or a wave. Between songs, his genuine energy and storytelling drew the audience in, making even a large amphitheater feel intimate. The set list was both a retrospective of his hits and a celebration of the new directions his music is taking, highlighting the growth and evolution of an artist truly in his element.

True to his reputation as a grounded, family-oriented artist, Davis wove his personal life into the performance. He paused between songs to talk about his faith, his career, and his family, even bringing out his wife and baby onstage to dedicate “Next Thing You Know.” At one point, he shared that he’d recently found an old mix cd in his car, which inspired a medley of covers performed alongside his band and the night’s openers, a playful, nostalgic moment that brought the entire stage together.
As the night drew to a close, Davis leaned on the songs that have defined his career. His CMA Award-wining collaboration with Luke Bryan, “Buy Dirt,” turned into a full-venue singalong, with thousands of voices echoing back every word. He closed with “What My World Spins Around,” a fan favorite that sent the crowd home on a high, the Greek Theatre buzzing with the afterglow of an artists at the top of his game.
