AHEAD OF HIS LA TAKEOVER, ROBI TALKS VIBES, VISION, AND WHAT'S NEXT

Updated: 23 hours ago

Puerto Rican singer-songwriter ROBI is on the rise, and his next stop is Los Angeles. As one of the featured artists at the upcoming Good Vibes Concert Series — presented by Complex and Verizon — ROBI is set to deliver more than just a performance. He’s bringing a story: one of passion, growth, and authenticity. With a brand-new single debuting live and a sound that fuses reggaetón, alt-pop, and raw lyricism, this appearance marks a key milestone in his fast-evolving career.

We caught up with him ahead of his LA show to talk about creative evolution, what fans can expect from his set, and why Good Vibes is more than just a name — it’s a full-on movement.

ROBI's journey into music began long before he ever stepped into a studio. "I was a fan before I was an artist," he says, reflecting on his childhood obsession with lyrics and rhythm. He picked up the drums at just six years old and quickly developed an ear for melody and structure. Influences like Luis Fonsi, Wisin & Yandel, and Justin Bieber shaped his evolving taste, giving him a wide sonic palette to draw from. Though he initially poured his energy into baseball, music eventually pulled ahead. It wasn’t a slow transition — it was a moment of clarity. "Music became everything. Once I started writing, once I started recording... I just knew."

At the core of ROBI’s artistry is a deep commitment to authenticity. His songwriting process is intensely personal and often starts with spontaneous bursts of inspiration — a phrase, a feeling, even a voice note saved on his phone. "Then it becomes something bigger in the studio." His sound is a fluid blend of reggaetón rhythms, pop melodies, and emotionally charged lyrics. What sets him apart is his ability to balance vulnerability with swagger — offering listeners both introspection and something they can move to.

"The most important thing is being real," he says. "People can tell when you're faking it. I want to make music that means something — not just for me, but for the people listening."

ROBI’s rise has also been marked by meaningful collaborations — but he doesn’t take them lightly. For him, it starts with the connection, not the track. "I need to feel a vibe with someone before jumping into a song. The energy has to be right first." This thoughtful approach has led to strong partnerships and helped him maintain creative control as his career gains momentum.

Now, ROBI is gearing up for his Los Angeles debut at the Good Vibes Concert Series, where he’ll perform in front of a live audience and a national livestream. The show will feature the premiere of his new single, “Café de Barcelona,” a track he calls "something different, something special." "LA is a big deal for me," he admits. "This isn’t just another show. It’s a moment. I want people to walk away feeling like they saw something real."

With his roots grounded in Puerto Rican culture and his vision set on the global stage, ROBI is more than ready. He’s not just bringing good vibes to LA — he’s bringing his whole story.
